Product Care

Allow your wood goods to last for years and develop a beautiful and authentic patina.

I believe in proper product care and maintenance. I feel this helps increase the connection to an item through personal interaction. The more connected you become to something the more care you will feel inclined to give. This interaction with your items will also help with the longevity of your goods and keep them out of the landfill.

Solid Wood:

  • When using dry items, such as baked goods, on the surface it is recommended to use a damp cloth to wipe clean.
  • If heavily soiled, make the entire piece wet and soapy (don't submerge in water). Gently scrub clean then ensure to completely dry the wood with a towel right away. If not evenly moistened and dried imminently an undesirable results will occur.
  • Undesirable results will will also come from using a dishwasher and submerging into water.
  • For rekindle goods that come into contact with food and water regularly - If the wood starts to look a bit dry apply a natural oil using a clean cloth or paper towel. There are also many oils that can be used that you may already have around your house. Coconut oil works great as does mineral oil, which is readily available at most pharmacies.  Some suggest using olive oil, or vegetable oil - it is up to you!
  • If you prefer to use the same hard oil/wax we use please check out Osmo.ca for this product.
  • For a deeper clean cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice onto the wood. Sprinkle some salt onto it and rub vigorously using the lemon like a 'scrub brush'.
  • I offer a refinishing/maintenance service if you prefer. Please reach out to me for a quote.

As always, please connect with me if you have any further questions.
