Mission

Mission

I know you’ll always need items to support your daily activities and I want to create goods that help you live more consciously. Ultimately, everything I do is grounded in my core principles:

Handcrafted goods that are designed to last

Using materials that age gracefully

Supporting experiences that bring people together

Commitment to supporting a healthy planet

Rekindle is about igniting meaningful connections between people through refined design. I know that home is where you have some of the most meaningful experiences and so I create bespoke décor and handcrafted home goods that will support you in these experiences. I  believe that investing in high quality, personalized items can spark an emotional connection to goods that encourages us to live with fewer but better things and avoid contributing to a throw-away society.
I want you to cherish the bespoke décor I make for you as more than just "consumables" and I hope that you personalize and connect with your home goods so that they become modern heirlooms that you’ll feel proud to pass on to someone special.

MY CORE PRINCIPLES

I make home goods that support human connection and a healthy planet

Handcrafted goods designed to last
When you love what you own, you care for it and you don’t throw it away to replace it with something new. To ensure longevity of our goods, I use high quality, durable materials, and a simple design aesthetic. Many trends come and go, but with fewer design details our timeless home goods will continue to look beautiful even as trends and fads continually evolve.

Materials that age gracefully in your home
I look at my creations as investments in both your life and the environment. All my creations are made in Canada and support local communities by using local, natural materials that change for the better with the passage of time. All my bespoke décor and home goods are designed and fabricated by me with the help of a small group of craftspeople who also create pieces with meaning, longevity, simplicity, and beauty in mind. We share a common belief that the highest standards increase the quality of our lives.

Supporting experiences that bring people together
I want my designs to bring people together and make memories through shared experiences. I encourage you to personalize my designs and pass them on to the special people in your life. This gesture increases the personal value of an item as it becomes a memory of you. The warm neutrals, natural textures and earthy tones featured in my bespoke décor pieces cultivate a warm, calm ambiance that is perfect for making memories with friends and family.

MY ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT:

I create products that you’ll want to have in your family for generations.
I only create items that support experiences that have been tested by time. These experiences are based around the close interactions we share with the people closest to us while in our homes.

I only use natural materials that improve with age.
My home goods develop their own unique and authentic patina and can be either recycled in current municipal recycling programs or are easily and safely biodegradable if there is no life left in them.  The wood finish I use supports my belief in allowing wood to look and feel like wood. Many other finishes look and feel like plastic and don't allow the wood to breath or patina well.

All the packaging is 100% recyclable.
I primarily use Kraft paper, corrugate, or easily recycled plastic caps on tubes and much of the packaging is made from 70-100% recycled content.

I source the wood responsibly.
I use only domestically sourced walnut and white oak from Canada and the northern USA in all my wood home goods so that the distance traveled from forest to my studio is minimized. These wood choices are two of the best hardwoods available and support good harvesting practices in comparison to other exotic woods. I don't use stains and only support the natural beauty of the wood itself.

I don’t use noxious wood finishes.
The wood finish I use on all my home goods is food safe, durable, and does not require special respiratory equipment when being applied. Learn more about the hard-oil/wax we use on Osmo.ca.

I'm committed to ongoing improvement.
While I use my current knowledge of how to make the world a better place I am continually learning, growing, and adapting to up-to-date information to ensure I am doing everything I can to contribute to a healthy earth for future generations.
